While doing research for a specific brand, it is also important to be aware of what's trending, what's new, what's innovative, what's popular, what's changing.
Brands take note of that to further their own brand experience and cater to their specific target audiences. They pay attention to patterns and find value in what people are doing and what they are truly passionate about.
I find these habits through social media, blogs, style magazines and vlogger videos.
I would present this to the brand. From there, we would dig deeper. We would start taking into account who these people are. Students? Millennials? Influencers?
The next step would be informational interviews. I would take the time to talk to these people and take note of their lifestyles. I would meet them personally, have a phone interview, Google Hangout, Skype, or conduct an email interview.
These are real target audiences. Getting data from people that use these products and have this certain lifestyle will help brands update products and create more influential branding campaigns. At the end of the day, we have to stay relevant.
