Happy fall y'all. Cheers to my first blog post. The move to NYC and my outfit.

October 19th, 2018

It’s 1:39pm right now and I’m sitting at one of the charging tables at SFO Airport. Just finished up a trip back home in the Bay Area | CA for my 23rd birthday and I’m about to fly back to NYC… my new home.

So cheers to 23, more taking risks, putting myself out there, more confidence, and finally starting this blog.

I’ve always had a Tumblr and blogged since 7th/8th grade actually. Yes those myspace days! It was great because it was really for me, where I reblogged everything that inspired me, where I learned how to build my own mood board, where I stared at photography for hours, and where I collected so many quotes that really shaped me. (I know that’s so corny but I am a true sucker for a good quote). I know you guys had Tumblrs too and it was great, right? It was so relevant. Sometimes the quotes spoke your mind and explained your feelings when you couldn’t explain it yourself. Well, I loved it and now I want to start this up again. This will not be a Tumblr but it will be more like an “Everything Journal”. I want to use this platform to showcase and capture my moments whether it’s photography, videography, fashion, work, travel, family, friends, etc. and to candidly talk about life and the process. I love documenting! Everyone has a story and everyone should tell it. Here goes nothing!

So, about this outfit…

I love basics. My favorite basics would have to be some comfy culottes a white t, and a sweatshirt. Elevate it by wearing a heel, I added some socks just because, and add a beanie for some edge. Want to stand out in a crowd? Easy haha! Make sure you’re beanie is highlighter green! Okay!? I personally love culottes because they’re comfy, you can dress it up or down, they’re flattering on short people (ahem, me!) and they’re so fun to wear with sneakers. I’m not a shoe head but I love specific ones. I’m picky!

My style is, basic bihh with one “piece”. “Piece” meaning, one piece of clothing or accessory, the main focal point, the one thing that stands out and brings the outfit together. Usually my “piece” is edgy or cozy with some 90s twist to it. It can be shoes, earrings… it’s the turning point of the outfit, the game changer. For example, if I wore skinny jeans with this fit, it would be a totally different vibe. The culottes for me create that feminine/girly sillhouette, a vibe that I really like in my style. Yeah, I guess I’m a girly basic bih? Sometimes minimal, sometimes street? I’m still trying to figure out the perfect word for what my style is. I’m just having fun with it every single day. With putting yourself out there, you just gotta find what you love and run with it. It’s that simple.

Outfit Infooo Yooo:

Culottes - Hemsmith. It’s the dark washed Harvey Tie Pant with the belt tucked in. S/o to Hemsmith NYC for the fitting lmao.

Crew Neck - Hanes (Dad’s)

Neon Green Beanie - Zara

Heels - DSW

Backpack - bday present from my bff @karasus from the Philippines! Made the straps longer so I can dangle the bag to the side. Love the slouchy look to it, but don’t worry it’s not slouchy bc the backpack is structured and shiny! Add a tote bag to this look if you want. It’s the new wave. Don’t be afraid to layer your totes!!

If I had my chain with me I would have totally added it to the look.

Style is all about making shapes, adding and subtracting, it’s what you do with what you have! Style is not having all the branded stuff. Yes, some are nice but it’s the little things that make a statement, like when you tie your shirt to the side. When I see that, I’m like… ouuu he/she cares about the details… yaaas.

I collect quotes often. They inspire me. I hope these inspire you. I think this will be my thing… where at the end of my blog post I’ll add some quotes that I find throughout the week. It will keep all of us goin. (:

“There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful than a woman being unapologetically herself, comfortable in her own imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.”

“Move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. Walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food. Open your mind, get up off the couch, move.” - Anthony Bourdain

“You are responsible for your own happiness. In fact, you create it. You attract it. You manifest it. You are the architect of your reality. You choose your thoughts, your perceptions, and your reaction to external forces. You possess all of the tools needed to expand your awareness, to orchestrate the evolution of your consciousness, to choose happiness, to choose love. You are that powerful. Create a life you deserve. Vibrate love.”

“The real gift of gratitude is the more grateful you are, the more present you become.”

“If there is one thing I’m willing to bet on, it’s myself.” - Beyonce

Thanks for reading. Talk to you real soon.
